Dear Fellow Republicans:

This year is shaping up to be an exceptionally interesting one in Connecticut politics with many Republican candidates vying for their party's nomination for various elected offices to defeat their Democratic opponents on November 2, 2010.

You may have seen in the media where our State Representative in the 135th District, John Stipp, is retiring after 18 years of service to his constituents in Easton, Weston and Redding (part). Although a few people have expressed interest in this position, a selection will not be made until the nominating convention on May 11, 2010. If you have interest in being a candidate, please contact me at 372-0181.

Our Republican Registrar of Voters in Easton, Eunice Hanson, is retiring after a number of years of dedicated service. We owe Eunice a vote of thanks for her hard work in this important town position. The Easton Republican Town Committee is interviewing candidates so please contact me if you are interested in learning more about this part-time, paid elected office.

There are several other volunteer town positions for which we currently have openings. Again, if you are interested, please contact me regarding any of the following:

  • Board of Ethics
  • Park & Recreation Commission
  • Conservation Commission
  • Commission for the Aging- Alternates
  • Senior Center Advisory Board
  • Land Preservation & Acquisition Committee

All registered republicans are invited to our monthly town committee meetings - March 25, April 22 and May 20 at 7:30 PM at the Library. We will be having presentations by various candidates for national and state offices as mentioned above in March and April.

As always, we look forward to your interest in serving the Town or the Town Committee in this important election year.
- Hugh J. Barry Chairman, ERTC
