Letter to Easton Republicans
Dear Easton Republican: To say that "Election Day 2008" was
a disaster for Republicans is a gross understatement. The
"Obama tsunami" that swept this state, and this country, washed
away many deserving Republican office holders and candidates
who were more qualified than their opponents, none more so
than our very own Christopher Shays, US Congressman in the
4th Congressional District for the last 21years. If there
was an "R" after the candidate's name, past accomplishments
just did not count to many voters this year. On a positive
note almost 90% of Eastonites came to the polls. All Republican
candidates were victorious in town, and Chris Shays enjoyed
60% of our overall vote which is 3-4 percentage points more
than he received in 2006 and 2004, respectively, against a
more experienced opponent. Read
