The Easton Republican
Town Committee will honor Joan S. Black
The Easton Republican Town Committee will
honor Joan S. Black at a cocktail party on Sunday, October
28, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the home of Cathy and Adam
Dunsby, 65 Redding Road. The
public is invited. The charge is $15 for an individual
and $25 for a couple. Reservations may be made with Ruth Powell,

Joan S. Black & Selectman Scott Centrella
Joan S. Black has been active in the Easton
Republican Town Committee since moving to town in 1980. She
currently serves on the Nominating Committee and the Finance
Committee and prepares the Ad Journal for the Annual Dinner.
She also served as Secretary under the chairmanship of Louis
Zowine, Esq...Before moving to Easton. she was active in Republican
politics and community service in New York City. She was appointed
by the Borough President to Community Board #8 where she chaired
the Parks and Recreation Committee.
Ms. Black began her own survey research
and consulting business, J.S. Black & Associates, in 1983.
In 2008, the primary focus of the company shifted from survey
research to selling books online.
Before founding the company, she had been
at the General Electric Company as Manager, Survey Operations
in the Public Opinion Research component. Prior to that she
was Research Associate at the Marplan Division of the Interpublic
Group of Companies, Research Account Supervisor at Compton
Advertising, and Field Supervisor at the Procter & Gamble
Company.
Ms. Black has been active in the American
Association for Public Opinion Research, having served as
President, Conference Chair, and Secretary-Treasurer. She
has served on the Editorial Board of Public Opinion Quarterly.
Her publications include General Electric: Bringing the Polls
to Life (Public Opinion, 1983) and Opinion Leaders—Is Anyone
Following? (Public Opinion Quarterly, 1982). She is an active
member of the Wilton Congregational Church where she has served
as a member of the Board of Deacons, the Board of Mission
and Service and as Chair of the Membership Board. She is the
Wilton Congregational Church’s Liaison for the Covenant to
Care Adopt a Social Worker program.
An acclaimed photographer of nature, Ms.
Black has had one-woman shows at the Museum of Natural History
in New York City and at the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology.
She is a graduate of Cornell University.
