First Selectman Tom Herrmann and Selectman Scott Centrella
led the entire Republican team to a complete and resounding
victory last night in the local Easton Municipal Elections.
This is the fourth consecutive Municipal Election in
which all Republican candidates were elected.
Tom Herrmann handily won re-election for a third two-year
term with 76% of the votes cast improving slightly his
impressive margin of victory in 2009. Clearly the people
of Easton have recognized the proven results of our
Republican administration over these years: reducing
the levels of unsustainable tax increases and strengthening
our strong financial condition, providing for increasing
quality of academic excellence in our schools, increasing
support for needy seniors and maintaining an unwavering
commitment to enforce our protective zoning regulations
against unwanted development to preserve the character
of Easton.

I congratulate all the members of the Republican team
for their efforts over the last several months in getting
our message across to the public. Now is the time to
get the job done and fulfill our campaign promises.
Approximately 35% of all registered voters in Easton
went to the polls on a glorious Election Day down for
41% in 2009. It is unfortunate that everyone does not
exercise their right to vote in our local elections
where the results on the qualify of life of our citizens
are even more direct than that of voting in national
elections. For example, our local elected and appointed
officials determine our rate of property tax increases,
the quality of our school system, our commitment to
our seniors, the nature and extent of town services
as well as the quality of life by enforcing our zoning
regulations. All of the above translate into the valuation
of our homes as well.
Thanks to all who voted yesterday and supported Tom
Herrmann and our Republican team. See the results below
of selective races; detailed counts will be made available
soon.
All the best,
Hugh J. Barry, Chairman
Easton Republican Town Committee
