Annual Dinner and Auction
On Saturday, September 27, 2008, The Easton
Republican Town Committee sponsored its annual dinner/auction
at Roberto's Restaurant in Monroe, Connecticut. Chaired by
Cecelia Campbell, more than 75 supporters turned out to honor
Val and Derek Buckley for their many contributions over more
than thirty-five years to both the Republican Party and to
The Town of Easton.
Although Congressman Christopher Shays, Fourth
Congressional District, was not able to attend due to the
House of Representative vote over the weekend in Washington
D.C., Betsi Shays, along with State Senator John McKinney
and State Representative John Stripp, was present for the
festivities and conducted the auction.
Hugh Barry, Chair of the Easton Republican Town
Committee, "encouraged all Republicans to get out and vote
for Senator McCain and Congressman Shays, along with the rest
of the Republican ticket on Election Day, Tuesday, November
4. It will be a close vote, once again, and every vote will
count. The Fourth Congressional District just cannot afford
to lose someone of Congressman Shays's stature and experience
in these trying times".
Easton First Selectman Thomas Herrmann along
with former First Selectman, William J. Kupinse, Jr., recognized
the Buckley's for their many years of dedicated service with
a citation proclaiming September 27 as "Buckley Day in Easton".
