Dear Friends,
Last night at the stroke of midnight Governor Malloy
concluded his first legislative session, the impact
of which will be felt by Connecticut residents and businesses
for years to come.
House Republican Leader Larry Cafero said it best that
this “session wasn’t just one-Party rule, it was one
branch rule.”
Governor Malloy pushed a progressive, liberal agenda
that catered to those who got him elected and not the
families and businesses in this state who will be left
to foot the bill.
With Senate President Don Williams and House Speaker
Chris Donovan as his willing accomplices, Governor Malloy
is responsible for $3.4 Billion in new taxes,
the largest tax increase in Connecticut history.
With increases in the income tax, sales tax and new
taxes on clothing, shoes, medicine and Internet commerce
the Democrats are sticking Connecticut families with
bills they can’t afford and telling employers to take
a hike.
House Republican Leader Larry Cafero and Senate Republican
Leader John McKinney held their ground and promoted
policies that made responsible cuts to government spending
without raising taxes or forcing employers to take their
business elsewhere.
We are all responsible for turning our state and our
nation around. Together, we must hold Governor Malloy
and Connecticut Democrats accountable for their irresponsible
policies and partisan pandering.
Join me today in holding the Democrats accountable
– write a letter to the editor, call into talk radio
stations and contact Democrat leaders and tell them
Connecticut deserves better!
We have great Leaders in Hartford who need our help
in growing our Republican base and showing voters there
is an alternative to the big-government, tax and spend
political class that Connecticut Democrats and labor
unions have created.
As we continue the conversation about who will lead
our Connecticut Republican Party for the next two years,
I look forward to talking with you about my plan to
bring us all together to fight the Democrats and the
big labor unions.
Let us not forget that Governor Malloy won only 23
of Connecticut’s 169 towns. We will win in 2011, 2012
and in 2014 if we recommit ourselves to the Party’s
core mission: registering voters, supporting our elected
leaders and candidates, investing people in our candidates
and our cause and raising the funds necessary to accomplish
these goals.
I have a plan that will bring our elected leaders,
town committee volunteers, grassroots activists and
donors together to show voters that Republicans are
leading by example and that there is another way.

Plan (PDF)
I look forward to talking with you more about how
we can make our Party better and turn our State around.
Sincerely,
Catherine
